Deaf Awareness Month Information Table Fair in Dover
Deaf Outreach, Inc
September is Deaf Awareness Month. Since one of the three goals of Deaf Outreach’s Mission is education, we have invited organizations to a Deaf Awareness Information Table Fair on First Friday in Downtown Dover. The Table fair will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Loockerman Way Plaza in downtown Dover, DE.
Organizations that provide services to residents of central Delaware who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing are invited to bring a table and share information related to those services. They will be distributing information in the form of handouts, fliers, etc.
Some of the organizations already committed to this event include:

DEAFinitions, Inc. - Interpreter services
Delaware Relay Services
Speech to Speech Services
Hands and Voices - Parent advocacy group
Hearing Loss Association of DE
Wyoming United Methodist Church - Deaf Ministry
Independent Resources Incorporated (IRI)
We are still in contact with many other agencies as well, including: Delaware Assistive Technology Initiative (DATI), DE State Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DSODHH), Independent Resources Incorporated (IRI), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), Delaware School for the Deaf (DSD), Delaware Association of the Deaf (DAD), Dover Police Department, and the Delaware State Police Department.
Dogs for the Deaf, the ACLU, and a Deaf Social Club will be sharing information in absentia.
This is the first public event of Deaf Outreach, Inc. It is in the plans for this event to grow to become a Mid Atlantic Regional Awareness Fair.
