Deaf Outreach, Inc
Although we are not yet accepting clients for case management, we are still referring for needed services. But...not all of the people referred to us for assistance are Deaf, or even hard of hearing!
I received a call from a woman who had been in touch with the Delaware School for the Deaf and been referred to Deaf Outreach, Inc.
This woman's mother had recently survived a stroke. The results of the stroke had severely effected her mother's ability to communicate by speaking, especially on the telephone. Her mother was very comfortable reading and writing, and had suffered no issues with her hearing. The largest impact to her life was that she could not communicate, via telephone, with her family and friends. This, alone, was devastating!
I referred them to the Speech to Speech program offered through Delaware Relay Services. Specially trained Relay Operators serve as the speech-disabled user's voice and repeat responses to the called party.
Deaf Outreach, Inc. is an advocate of open and equal communication access, and we are proud to have been able to help this family.

- basic information about STS
- filling out customer profiles
- other features designed to support STS users and their callers.
